The photographs were taken outside what is now Crich Infant School (date unknown).
They were obviously taken at the same time; once with regalia being worn once without.

Elias William Hartle lived at Laburnam Cottage on Bennet's Lane. During WW1 three of his sons went to war, sadly ony one returned. Charles was buried in the Abbeville War Cemetery in France, Thomas was buried in Kut War Cemetery in Baghdad. Both are remembered on the war memorial outside St Mary's Church.
