CRICH MAN KILLED
Friends of Mr and Mrs J. Duggan, late of Crich, will be sorry to hear of the death at the Front of their only son William, who was shot through the head by a German sniper on the night of June 22nd. The sad news was conveyed to Mrs Jno Taylor, of "The Fields" Crich on Saturday. He was 23 years of age and enlisted the Army almost a year ago, having previously been employed at Messrs Yelverton Dawbarns joinery works, Whatstandwell. Mr Duggan, whilst at Crich, held the position of valve inspector for the Derwent Valley Water Board, afterwards removing to Little Eaton where he is still serving the above Company in the same capacity
[Note: in the article the name "William" is incorrect, it should be "John".]
